Y86008 To F.{Mr Friese} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. c. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.6/KT. 29.8.32. WIRELESS SCREENING OF 20/25 TANK ENGINE. We thank you for your F.2/JL. 27.8.32, referring to the above. We can foresee no difficulty at all in screening for the wave-lengths referred to, providing we take special care to make a careful examination of the whole system, to ensure that nothing is left unscreened as in all the wave-lengths referred to, the degree of screening will be very critical. We are rather surprised in view of the fact that such low wave-lengths, i.e. 60 - 100 metres, are being used for transmitting and receiving on these tanks, that the War Office have not called for screened sparking plugs. We should anticipate quite a good proportion of disturbance would be occasioned by unscreened sparking plugs. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. | ||
