-2- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/R.15.4.39. In spite of its short comings, we have agreed to the R.R. distributor being fitted to Wraith C. series owing to the fact that material had been ordered. Now that we know the exact relative merits of our own and the Delco distributor, however, we feel that it would be difficult to justify ordering any more material for the R.R. design at present, i.e., it ought not to be instructed for B.V. Even when the R.R. distributor has been fitted with a double contact breaker and improved adjustment, we still believe that unless the Delco can be shown to be unreliable, the R.R. should only be fitted when it can compete on price. Unless we are impartial in this respect, we do not see how the enthusiasm of the Engineering Department can be maintained for building the least costly car that they can without sacrificing quality.
