Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}2/MH.{M. Huckerby}13.9.38. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} and Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} have tried 7.B.V. with both ¾° and 1½° position camber, and agree that the further increase gives a desirable improvement in directional stability without making the steering too heavy. We therefore wish to make a compromise and have 1½° of positive caster. It has been suggested that yokes could be designed for 1° caster which could give an alternative of plus or minus ¼° variation in machining possible off the same forging. Will you please alter the designs accordingly and instruct both ¾° and 1½° angles experimentally. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux} | ||
