Owing to the increased height of the back end of B.III to give more bump movement the castor angle with the latest yokes is -½° instead of the intended 0°. We have found on the road that the best compromise is obtained by fitting the old type yokes, which were, we believe, designed to give 1½°. The desired castor angle is therefore +1°. Will you please alter the yoke details to give this angle and determine whether it is necessary to alter the dies which are now being made. The new castor angle will also necessitate altering the detail of the cross steering lever attached to the stub axle in order to preserve the correct height of the ball end pin to give good geometry. This matter is very urgent as yoke dies are now being made. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer} | ||
