Sides SWDL{Len H. Swindell} Do you think? 1113 Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} C-E.B. C-BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} - from Sft.{Mr Swift} Sft.{Mr Swift}1/EMG.12.11.36. With reference to memo' Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/GR.{George Ratcliffe}2.11.36 giving a copy of a report from GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} in regard to P.III Oil Level Indicator, we would state that the Works fitted the unit up as designed. When parts are made to drawing, the bronze bush which works upon the pivot pin is too short and the pivot pin itself is too long, thus enabling the bush when fastened to the float strip to move sideways. We have been able to get the D.O. to reduce the length of the pivot pin, but they should be urged to alter the length of the bronze bush in order that a thicker collar may be formed when swaying over. We are reducing this excessive sideways movement on all units in building and many more that can be got hold of, as we do not know whether it is deemed essential to dismantle all cars in Test and elsewhere. We should be glad of instructions as to this. We would point out that we have had no previous complaint on this matter. Sft.{Mr Swift} | ||
