(2) The additional condenser (external to the rectifying unit) of .3 mf. capacity shall now be connected up and the temperature in the oven raised to indicate 80ºC by the thermometer, at which temperature it should be maintained for 20 minutes. At the end of this period leakage current and voltage observations should again be made (as in (1)) and the ratio of the volts to the micro-amperes should not be lower than 1.2 megohms.

It should be mentioned that the calibration of the spark gap has been effected by the use of our H.T. transformer, by measuring the voltage on the primary and computing the secondary voltage from the known transformation ratio.

A curve of voltage against spark gap length has been made, from which the voltage ap-plied to the insulation on test can be arrived at.

Three other coil cases than those referred to in the report FC.132, and taken from recent production, have been put through the above production test and the results are given in the accompanying table :-
