Re. 20-HP. Valves.

With reference to Experimental Dept. memo. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GMH/LG.29.10.28.. (copy attached for BY), in view of this memo. we submit that instructions should be given that when fitting new cylinder head gaskets, the engine should be given a good "gruelling" (i.e. dynamometer and road tests) and tappets re-set and found to remain so.

To deliver chassis or new cars with new gaskets before the new gasket has settled down and the tappet clearances maintained is likely to produce the same trouble as that mentioned in the Experimental Dept. memo. under review.

We suggest that the R.D. circulate a Depot Sheet on this matter.
