Installation and modification of Browning guns in Spitfire aircraft bays.

That is required is to lower the back end of the gun in the neighbourhood of the remote trigger motor and to reduce the width across the feed block. As we are considering how only 2 guns in bays 1 and 2, the width of the breech block does not arise as they are widely separated. If, however, at the same time, .303 Browning guns are fitted in bays 3 and 4, difficulty will arise between bays 3 and 7 if our breech block is not narrowed. Since writing ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}4/JH.4.9.40. we have done no work on the installation of this gun in the Spitfire and have been awaiting a drawing of the revised gun. J.V.
