-2- The policy of the future is to have flexible springs with damping device. It was agreed that if we had no damping device the thin leaved springs were better than the thick leaf. It was agreed that we are not prepared to standard-ise shock absorbers at present, but the question should be brought forward by Mr. again in three months' time. (5) (a) HOT AIR IN SCUTTLES ON GOSHAWK. This question is being discussed now at W. in a conference consisting of E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}, DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}, EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}, Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, and BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} (b) HEATER FOR THE INTERIOR OF CARS. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said he would get a "Perfection" catalogue, and investigate this matter. At present there does not seem to be any satisfactory heater, at a reasonable price. (6) ENGINE VIBRATIONS. 81.TW was sent up to the Test Dept. by PN.{Mr Northey} suffering from the above complaint. PN.{Mr Northey} thought it might probably be due to end play in the shaft and asked that W. would investigate to see if taking up this end play in the shafts of certain other chassis cured engine vibrations. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} was asked to measure up the end thrust of a few chassis. (7) AXLES. It was agreed that during the present crisis dud axles might be fitted, in order to enable chassis to go to the coachbuilders in London. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} and C. to be responsible that such cars are not delivered to customers until good axles are fitted. The cost of changing axles will not be more than £5. (8) THE BLESSING OF UNBEDEVILLED CARS BY W. It was agreed that W. must send parts to Agents and that after the car had been unbedevilled W. should, when requested, examine it and try and get the owner's name. | ||
