X2924 MINUTES OF CONFERENCE HELD AT THE MIDLAND HOTEL, DERBY. 4TH MAY 1922. Present:- BJ D Roy{Sir Henry Royce} LMS Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} EPC C He EWT PN{Mr Northey} Hr Sft{Mr Swift} H Hy{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} My Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} Tr{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance} EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} E BY DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} ---------- (2) CRICKLEWOOD. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} reported that work at N. was much better now than before the re-organisation. Also that Derby was perhaps a little to blame for the lack of liaison between W. and N. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} thought that the standard of work at N. was now up to the standard of work at W. (3) STRAIGHT SIDED DUNLOP CORD TYRES. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said he had had many punctures and bursts but had not had a tyre come off, at the same time causing a chance of losing a necessary part of the mechanism of the rim. He stated also that the above tyres had behaved very well during the tests. It is quite conceivable that if the car is run at high speeds with a deflated tyre that the demountable ring might come off. It was agreed that we should have straight sided tyres on Goshawk, but we should try several different makes of tyres. It was also agreed that if people demanded it they should be allowed to have beaded tyres; Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} to find out if the cost is the same for beaded as straight sided tyres. (4) HARTFORD SHOCK ABSORBERS. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} stated that the above were the most satisfactory type he had yet come across. | ||
