Replying to CWB's remarks on experimental reports on 8-EX car :-

STEERING.
We hardly agree that the testers reports on the behaviour of the steering improved because they got used to the car. We believe the testers reports are accurate impressions and observations from day to day. We consider the variation in the reports on the steering from day to day can easily be explained by the condition of the roads. It is well known that the road is the factor which would appreciably affect the steering. The effect felt on the steering would also be influenced by the speed of the car and the angle at which the wheels strike obstacles or pot-holes; we should therefore have placed less reliance on the drivers reports if they had reported the same results each day.

We think the final report (dated 10th. Dec.) on the steering after the 10,000 miles test gives a very accurate summing up of all points.

RATTLE OF CONTROLS IN THE STEERING COLUMN.
This is a matter for design. This fault was manifest on the Silver Ghost, 20 HP., and also on the Phantom.

DIPPING HEAD LIGHTS.
At the moment there is no suggestion that these should be standardised.
