20 HP Dynamo E failure due to a sticking brush, subsequent repair, and condition.

Dynamo E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Annealed Copper Commutator This machine, fitted with 2 brushes was put on BF-68 on Jan 1st of this year. It ran for 3183 miles and was then (on March 31st) removed on account of repeated fuse failure in the field circuit. The trouble was found to be due to a sticking negative brush and was cured by cleaning with petrol. After this the machine was refitted to the car and ran a further 316 miles (total 3499) until replaced by No 470 (with 4-G1 engine) on the 1st inst. The commutator is in very good condition. The brushes are fairly well polished, but are rougher on the trailing sides of the contact faces. There are signs of excessive (Contd) Signed This Sheet must be filed on completion of the work. | ||
