32-EX.

The following is a brief impression of this car as so far run.

(1) Carburetter.
Starting up very good, slow running uneven and I think would be improved by correcting the mixture. The throttle stop wants setting so that the engine will idle with the hand controls in the fully closed position.

One of the petrol pumps appears to be out of order as the car will not run above 75 m.p.h.

(2) Air Silencer.
Pronounced hissing, and a certain amount of roar at various speeds.

(3) General Noise.
Exceedingly bad. Contributory causes to this appear to be -
(a) Crankshaft period.
(b) Flywheel period.
(c) Very noisy side-shaft.
(d) Noisy timing gears.
(e) No noise insulation.
(f) Clutch pedal against the boards.
These features will all have to be tackled in due course.

It is difficult to know how much the exhaust system contributes to the general noise until we get rid of some of the engine periods.

(4) Exhaust System.
Clicks badly when standing cooling down.
