ALL COMMUNICATIONS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED TO THE COMPANY & NOT TO INDIVIDUALS. /280 EXPERIMENTAL DEPT. Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Std.7/JH. 9th May, 1938. The Avon India Rubber Co.Ltd., Melksham, Wilts. For the attention of Mr. E.G. Clemson. Dear Sirs, Referring to your letter of the 4th inst., we do not agree with your statement that the washers in question differ from the drawing size of .150 by .005 to .008". We have rechecked the 3 samples which we have here and they are .010 to .015 oversize - we return a further one herewith and if you check this carefully you will agree with this figure. In any case, it does not matter particularly if the washer is slightly undersize, but it does matter if it is oversize. We therefore think that your suggestion of using 0.140 material is a good one - perhaps you will let us have a few such washers to the latest drawing which you have. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
