RE. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}'S VISIT TO WW. - 16.8.22.

BENDIX. V3592
This does not seem to be quite understood. The spring anchorage with 3 lugs should have a helical face to carry the end pressure of the spring and only one tooth need be rounded to fit the spring hook.

The lubrication of the bendix should be carried out by squirting thin oil through the plug hole provided once every 1000 miles and a note to this effect should be inserted in the instruction book.

WATER PUMP DRIVE AND DRAIN TAP. V4353
We should like to know why the Hardy fabric couplings of this drive are always in such a ragged condition.

*The drain cock on No.4.Goshawk 11 which should remain closed owing to the weight of the handle hanging down vibrated open when I was racing the engine and I think it might be better to use a drain tap with a balanced handle.

BATTERY IGNITION ETC. V3489
The ignition governor spindle should be made as a drop forging instead of a gun metal casting.

I think we ought to mould a RR on the coil box or coil box lid{A. J. Lidsey} and on the distributor moulding to make it clear that the ignition is our own. Incidentally it would be a good thing to remove the American inscription from the hub caps as soon as this can be permitted.

The bakelite distribution cover looks quite well but it appears to me that the bosses through which the fixing studs pass could be stiffened up with advantage. We will send particulars for this.
