Dear Sirs,
Our production department are having considerable trouble due to eccentricity of the roller followers.
As you will appreciate, this error leads to erratic results from the gear and cannot be counteracted in any way by adjustment. Your drawings specify a limit of 0.0025" in the out of truth running, but we consider that it should not exceed 0.001".
Will you please let us know whether you can work to this limit, and if so will you please apply it as soon as possible.
Yours faithfully,
FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
