Dear Sirs,

STEERING CAM ROLLER ASSEMBLY:

With reference to your recent visit to these Works and discussion regarding the above, we have great pleasure in enclosing copy of our drawing X.2737.A., outlining our proposals for the modification of the bearing proportions in order to give an increased capacity, it being noted that below the centre line we indicate the existing scheme, and above the centre line the proposed scheme, it being noted that in both cases an approximate theoretical increase in capacity of 50% is obtained, while in actual fact from a service point of view, we would say that the increase is at least 100% greater.

The increased pitch circle and larger ball size result in the balls being closer to the point of application of load, as well as an increase across the points of contact, thereby reducing the leverage effect, and, in general, we feel that the schemes as outlined will fully cover your requirements.

However, we shall be glad to have your consideration of this matter, and to assist you in any way further on receipt of your instructions.

Yours faithfully,
RANSOME & MARLES BEARING CO. LTD.

G.S.H. Ridealgh
GENERAL MANAGER.
