x237 Copy to E/Hdy.{William Hardy} Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}26/KW. 8th April, 1935. Messrs. Hardy Spicer & Co.Ltd., Birch Road, Witton, Birmingham 6. For the attention of Mr. Daniels. Dear Sirs, We have fitted the propellor shaft you sent us to the Bentley car now running in France. We were surprised to find that the assembly weighed 26 lbs., being therefore very little lighter than our own shaft. We had hoped for a weight of about 19-20 lbs. Do you think therefore this shaft can be lightened. Is your method of fitting the tube to the end forgings heavier than the method we use ? Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
