DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ------- X5450 BY1/G.5.3.28. I attach hereto copy of a note from Mr. Booth of 'F' Dept. who has reminded me of the essential need of treating the side steering tube earlier on in the problem if anything like a straight side steering tube is to be obtainable. This matter we feel is an important one, as when the matter was treated as above on the 20 HP. car we got away from a very big bend in the tube to a straight line, but the next time the matter was handled we got back to a bent tube, and unless care is taken the bends are likely to increase rather than decrease in order to obtain a working clearance.
