1245. W/P. Sr. from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rml/R.28.10.38. Dear Sr., We are impressed by the latest Michelin type of tyres. Will you please ask them to let us have 5 more of the rims to suit the tyres, and we will build them up on to our steel wheels. We should like 5 more tyres, but wonder whether it is possible for them to reduce the noise of the tread by altering the pattern. We now have some information as to the way General Motors do their styling, and it appears they make quarter scale models in clay from the Artists drawings. They use a special kind of clay which stiffens when heated to 60° or 70°, and hardens at normal temperatures. We suggest that you ask Paulin if he can find anyone in France who could work with him to make models from his drawings. With regard to filters, I am arranging to have some more sent off to you, but suggest that you get the pipes and brackets made in France modelled from the type you now have in your car as it seems ridiculous to have them made here and sent out to you when you can get them made by any Coppersmith.
