Referring to your memo Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}12/T.26.8.35, the following schemes give particulars of the improvements which should be fitted, dealing with the points raised:- (1) Engine. Piston knocks when starting up from cold. Fit split pistons LeC. 4617 (2) Overoiling. Fit white metal big-ends to LeC. 4624 but without circumferential grooves. (3) Carburetters flooding. Fit filter to LeC. 4594. (4) Clutch spigot bearing noise. Fit oilite bush to N.Sch. 4578. (5) Valve Push Rods. Fit duralumin rods to LeC. 4626. (6) Gearbox. 1st motion shaft bearing noisy. (7) Side shaft gear noisy when hot. Experiments are in progress dealing with gearbox noise. (8) All synchro mesh gears crash on engaging.
