-4- AJS2/DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}20.3.25. work, and one of the first points to be dealt with was the comparison of the all-round relative merits of the ground and cut gears, and it was judged from conversation, that another line of investigation was the fitting of plain white-metalled-lined, pressure-oil fed bearings to gear boxes in place of those of the ball or roller type, it being anticipated that eventually with ground gears the ball or roller bearing noises would finally become unbearable.
