DEAR SIRS,

RE TROPIC-AIRE HEATERS.

IN REPLY TO YOUR ENQUIRY OF THE 29TH INST., WE HASTEN TO GIVE YOU THE FOLLOWING PARTICULARS REGARDING THE ABOVE HEATERS:-

TROPIC-AIRE EMPLOYS THE WATER THAT COOLS THE MOTOR TO HEAT THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. ITS CORE CONSTRUCTION IS OF THE TUBULAR TYPE, HAVING AN INLET AND OUTLET TUBE FOR CIRCULATING THE WATER. A SIX VOLT MOTOR MOUNTED SUBSTANTIALLY IN THE CORE HOUSING COMPLETES THE UNIT. THE HEATER IS MOUNTED ON THE DASH UNDER THE COWL: THE WATER IS SUPPLIED TO THE HEATER THROUGH FITTINGS KNOWN AS BLOCK INSTALLATION, TAKING THE WATER OFF FROM THE MOTOR HEAD, CIRCULATING SAME THROUGH HEATER BY VACUUM CREATED BY THE SUCTION OF THE WATER PUMP, AND RETURNED TO THE LOWER HOSE CONNECTION BETWEEN RADIATOR AND THE WATER PUMP.

THE SWITCH BOARD CONTROLLING THE ELECTRIC MOTOR IS CONVENIENTLY MOUNTED ON THE INSTRUMENT BOARD: WHEN HEAT IS DESIRED, THE OPERATOR TURNS THE SWITCH TO THE "ON" POSITION, GIVING A MOTOR SPEED OF 2200 R.P.M. AT THIS SPEED THERE IS AN AIR VELOCITY OF APPROXIMATELY 600 LINEAL FEET PER MINUTE ON THE JUNIOR MODELS - ON THE LARGER MODELS, THERE IS ABOUT TWICE THAT AMOUNT.

AT 150 DEGREES MOTOR TEMPERATURE, THE HEATER DELIVERS 110 DEGREES OF HEAT AT FACE OF HEATER AND AT THE ABOVE NAMED VELOCITY, THE HEAT IS QUICKLY DISTRIBUTED TO ALL PARTS OF THE VEHICLE BODY, ASSURING EVEN HEAT, FREE OF CARBON MONOXIDE GASES.

THE HEATER IS FURNISHED WITH A SHUT OFF VALVE WHEREBY THE WATER MAY BE TURNED OFF DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS AND THE HEATER IS THEN CONVERTED INTO A COOLING SYSTEM BY THE USE OF THE ELECTRIC MOTOR AND FAN.
