I presume you realise the steady increase in weight of the 40/50 chassis.

I gather that there is an increase of nearly 2 cwt. since our Trials Continental - 31-GX, which you will remember was rather a good one of this type.

The weight of that chassis was 3330 lbs.

The weight of JS{Mr Johnson's Secretary} and MS series (without s/m gearbox) was 30 lbs. more, due doubtless to deeper radiator, wider dash and bonnet, increase in track, addition of front apron etc.

The weight of MS series with s/m gearbox is 3450 lbs., i.e. 90 lbs. more than the above and 120 lbs. more than GX.

The weight of "O.2" series is 3530 lbs., or a total increase since GX of 200 lbs.

The weights given are all for short chassis and without petrol, battery, tyres.

I do not suppose there is anything we can do about it but, in view of our constant and steady efforts to increase performance, it is interesting to note that the weight is steadily creeping up which of course handicaps us.
