To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} X 3424.v RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}9/BE21.7.33. Finish on 1.B.IV. Engine Unit CYLINDERS Rocker cover black enamelled except on the beading round the joint face and the word 'Bentley' which were polished. The beading was flattened slightly so as to give a polished band approximately .200" wide. Rocker and tappet covers were fitted with notched thumb nuts to LeC 3551, chromium plated, but we understood from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} that he preferred the standard type on the grounds of cost, and also that the shape does not lend itself to satisfactory plating. External cylinder holding down nuts nickel deposited. INLET PIPES, CARBURETTERS, AIR SILENCER, WATER PUMP, OIL PUMP, THERMOSTAT AND FAN. Black enamelled. CRANKCASE, WHEELCASE, PETROL PUMP, IGNITION DISTRIBUTOR, OIL FILLER. Scratch brushed. CONTROLS All controls black enamelled with exception of throttle coupling shaft between carburetters, which was nickel deposited. WATER PIPES, OIL PIPES AND FITTINGS Nickel deposited. EXHAUST MANIFOLD Tape polished. [STAMPED TEXT: RECEIVED JUL 1933] RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} | ||
