To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to CJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} +7500 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/M8.1.26. EAC.8. DASHBOARD - 'B' STEERING. X.7340 X.7500 You will remember that we cancelled the previous stepped dashboards which involved shortening the scuttle. We now send herewith N.sch.2105 shewing the revised stepped dashboard in which the length of the scuttle is not altered, but the bonnet is slightly shortened. Instead of being of sheet metal construction the dashboard is a casting, and we are hoping that you will be able to get fairly easily a casting of uniform thickness. We have arranged that as far as possible the faces shall be simply machined either by grinding or milling, so as to keep the thickness down to a minimum. We have tried to make the casting as far as possible the same for all, and though one or two points, especially the steering column fixing, are bound to be different, we think it will be found that one pattern can be used. It will be noticed that the Klaxon, wiring conduits, vacuum tank, etc. are the same for all steerings. It will also be noticed that we have revised the method of securing the steering column as compared with those previously sent you. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
