V1735 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}12/KW. 31st May, 1934. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Clark Esq. Messrs. Bendix Limited, Tyseley, BIRMINGHAM. Dear Clark, I have written off to the various people in America about the Thermostat and the anti-spill Radiator Valve, and will let you know anything which eventuates. There are three questions I would like to ask you :- (1) Can you give me any information as to the people who deal with the bi-metal thermostats for operating carburetter automatic chokes etc. ? (2) The butterfly which works in the exhaust system to control the hot spot temperature and is also thermostatically operated. Can you give us any information as to the material of which this is made, and the bearings etc. ? (3) When I was at South Bend they showed me some experimental carburetters made out of transparent material. It strikes me that this might be most useful in helping us with our own experimental work. Could you possibly find out for me what it is and how they mould it ? Yours sincerely, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
