HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/WST. FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} C to SC, WOB, BY ELECTRICAL IGNITION. R5/M28.11.31. Sent off 30.11.31. X6017 X6118 X5075 COILS. We arranged to proceed with a change of design of coil with the external primary. We do not expect to get a better coil than our present but we have long realised that it tends towards greater economy, especially in the extremely fine secondary wire, and in the case. This is not a serious matter but may affect the cost of the car by several shillings, which is a good percentage on the total cost of the coil. With regard to the L. T. contact maker the only one of these we admired is the latest production of the Delco Co. The other models - Bosch, and Lucas - were undoubtedly less logical and robust, so that our modifications will be on the lines of the Delco, which is the one we should purchase if we were buying, and if it were of English make. The life of the points may be increased by the double contacts, and the make and break ratio can be of any required figure demanded by the characteristics of the coil. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
