WATER JOINT WASHERS ON ALL CARS.

We are circulating a Standardisation Sheet for the use of Klingerite jointing material on all cars in place of Dermatine wherever this is at present used. We have three cars in France at the moment so fitted - 3.B.1V., 6.B.1V. and 35-EX. - further, we have been using this material on all experimental engines for the past six months. No trouble whatever has been experienced with it.

However, Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} tried out some Klingerite washers for the water pump bend joints on Bentley and experienced trouble - Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}1/2/T.21.9.36 - we have discussed this with Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} and he thinks that the best thing would be to repeat his experiments.

Will RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} therefore have about half a dozen production cars fitted with Klingerite washers in the pump bend joints when they are built - the washers must of course be the same thickness as the existing Dermatine washers and their piece numbers are E.61121 and E.61122 - and inform Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} of the numbers of the engine units so fitted. Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} will then report on their behaviour on test.

This should be done as soon as is convenient.
