Bailey - Chief Engineer} ORIGINAL Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LG14.11.27. x89400 x8770 "PHANTOM" 10,000 MILES TEST IN FRANCE. We have been instructed to send a standard Phantom car to France as soon as possible to run 10,000 miles, in order that several new features can be added on the Phantom without delay. Actually, material is at present being ordered for another series of Phantom cars, but certain sections which are affected are held up until the car has completed a full weeks running in France. If they are then satisfactory the new parts will be put on order, and the 10,000 miles completed. The parts which we wish to urgently standardise are as follows :- 1. Watford magneto without sleeve. 2. Torque control to front axle. 3. Spare wheel carrier on the rear. 4. Narrower radiator with integral shutters. 5. Battery ignition head with scrubbing contacts. At the same time we propose to fit the following new parts to the chassis :- 6. American front springs. 7. Battery box in frame. 8. Perfect circle ring in place of 'L' shaped ring. 9. New Lucas head lamps. contd :- | ||
