RE. CONTINENTAL TOURING SALOON - 26-EX.

With further reference to my EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}5/H15.12.30 the following are further points on this job which did not affect the speed and performance controversy, but which I thought should be brought to your attention. I should like you comments on same, as I am anxious to make the best of this job when turning out the chassis or the complete car.

The car for high speed work was generally quite good, but the steering did not seem so very free from joggles, nor was the front of the car as steady as I had the impression it should be, and certainly not as good in this respect as chassis of this type which we are turning out from the Works.

The springing of the car was very good for high speed work, although on bad wavy roads it certainly threw one about. It was, however, distinctly harsh for low speed work, which I take it is rather what we expected.

There was a very disagreeable boom period, both forward and retard at engine speeds between 77 and 82 m.p.h. shown on the speedometer. This boom also took place on the gears at similar engine speeds.

I noticed we had axle brake squeaks. Is not this car fitted with the latest type of damped brake shoes?
