To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} V30D Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}5/KW.24.8.36. Lightened parts for Continental Ph.III. We understand from Mr. Walker of the Pattern shop that he can make satisfactory castings for the bottom half rocker covers and timing case in aluminium of .150" general section. As this will provide lighter castings than magnesium, and not have the disadvantage of being magnesium, we would prefer to have these aluminium castings. Will you please therefore cancel Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}'s instructions for these parts to be in magnesium, and make them in the thinner aluminium instead. We talked to Walker about reducing the weight of the crankcase, but he said this was impossible. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
