BATTERY IGNITION CONTACT POINTS.

"A condenser connected across the contact points is located in a box W of this apparatus, the condenser case and the main body of the contact breaker unit being together in direct electrical connection with the chassis frame. The insulated terminal of the condenser is connected to the insulated contact and they are together brought out to the insulated terminal to which the external low tension connection is made. A small terminal box (O, Fig.8) is provided on the dash to enable the battery ignition system to be disconnected from the supply of current.
Occasionally it may be desirable to touch up the low tension contact points with a very fine file. It is important, however, not to do this unless it is really necessary as indicated by the presence of dirt or oxide on the working contact surface which need not necessarily be the whole of the available surface, although it should not be less than 40% of this. When it is necessary, great care should be taken only to remove sufficient material (oxide or dirt) again to secure metallic contact over a reasonable area."
