-3- Oil Pump. Submerged in the oil and situated between Nos. 3 and 4 cylinders, to be fitted with a floating B.W.P. oiling intake. Helical gears with an helix angle of about 10-12° are recommended. Relief Valve. On the off side and directly connected to the main oil gallery with high and low pressure valves. The size of the overflow to be generous and feeding directly back to the sump. Engine Mounting. Low mounting like the Oldsmobile. High engine mounting appears not possible with twin belt drives at the front. Sump. In sheet metal and fitted with sheet metal baffles fore and aft to prevent surging of the oil away from the intake when running with low levels. The baffles to be both vertical and horizontal. The level indicator to be Smiths 3 wire instrument. Starter Motor. 16 to 1 ratio with back gear and cork clutch to be placed as high as possible consistent with the clearance under the foot boards. Slipper Flywheel. Harmonic type and outside the timing case and similar to the Vauxhall. | ||
