Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} re Peregrine Grouped Instruments. x40 Referring to memo EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}3/9.1.33., we have had in hand for some time a grouped instrument panel for Peregrine in which the switchbox is included, and the instruments are fitted with individual bevelled glasses behind a black panel. This job has been held up owing to pressure of other work, but we are now going ahead with it again because we are keen to obtain the advantages of the following features: No.1 The modified switch included in the batch will be more economical and convenient. No.2 Improved illumination of instruments and individual dust excluding glasses for same. No.3 Master position of switch cutting off battery from all circuits in car (excluding heavy current starter motor circuit). No.4 Parking position of switch, cutting out all circuits not required when parking. No.5 Red warning lamp for ignition. Items 2 and 3 deal with the complaints with regard to fusing of body work conductors, unauthorized use of the horn or starter motor, and such things as electric heater being left on. With regard to illumination, recent experiments at Derby indicate that we cannot approach the even quality of the bevelled glass illumination with our present scheme having the single glass. The switchbox will be applicable with slight modification for either the three rate charged scheme or vibrator control. It is assumed from the aforgoing that this new instrument group should be better than anything we now have, but this is necessarily the result of progress. | ||
