X8420 W/NS{Norman Scott} [STAMP: RECEIVED 27 OCT 1927] OYL.R.101727 October 17th, 1927. Mr. R.W.H. Bailey, Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby, England. (Copy for attention of Mr. E.W. Hives.) Dear Mr. Bailey: RE: - BRAKES From our depots etc. we receive reports of adjust-ments on the servo system such as increasing or decreasing the friction in the T-equalizer suspension, or the setting of the cam levers, etc. having been found to give more gentle engagement or more silent disengagement. To clear up the situation as far as I can, I have written the attached memo, which is intended simply to bring out the essential features of the system and avoid waste of time in depots from lack of understanding of the action. Before notifying the depots however, I want to be sure that we understand the action thoroughly ourselves, and would therefore, welcome your prompt and detailed criticism of the memo. Yours very truly, Maurice Olley MO/R [STAMP: RECEIVED] | ||
