re. AXLE GEAR RATIO FOR GOSHAWK CHASSIS.

We have just received instructions per telegram from Sales, reading as follows:-

"BAILEY - BJ. AGREES PARIS TRIALS GOSHAWK SHALL HAVE 14 TOOTH AXLE. Stop. PLEASE INSTRUCT WORKS IMMEDIATELY".

We are acting accordingly, although this will mean slight delay in delivery of the Paris Trials car, 41-G-2. As a matter of fact this is now ready for delivery but is fitted with a 13 tooth axle, which is passable for an open body in accordance with BJ's memo to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} BJ2/HB.{C. E. Harcombe}12.22.

We shall be glad if we can have some definite ruling in regard to axle gear ratio.

The Experimental Department recommended some time ago that all Goshawk chassis which were to be used for Trials purposes, whether fitted with open or closed bodies, should have 13 tooth axles, and arrangements have been made accordingly. Cars for customers with covered bodies to be fitted with 13 tooth axles and with open bodies 14 tooth axles.

Can something definite be settled please to enable the Works to manufacture the correct proportion of 13 and 14 tooth axles.

LATER.

We can by working late still get 41-G-2 away tomorrow Saturday as promised.
