Messrs.Rolls-Royce,Ltd., Date 21.5.31. Page 3 Could you let us know whether in the case of the chassis standing in the very light shop without bodies, the gauges were coupled up to the petrol tank; in other words were in a working condition, or were they prepared for despatch to the coachbuilders, with the air lines uncoupled at both the front and back ends? This information would be of assistance to us. We have received the tank for the single line gauge, and we are engaged upon the design and manufacture of a suitable unit and tank top. Before proceeding too far with the manu-facture, we will send you sketches showing our suggestions, with an alternative height, as you will be able to judge more accurately than ourselves the height permissible for the unit with regard to intrusion into the apron. As you will recollect this height has to be balanced against the absence of splash, which we are arranging,as agreed, to be led away by a union, the pipe running preferably sideways outside the apron. Assuring you at all times of our best attention, We remain, dear Sirs, Yours faithfully, H.M.HOBSON,Ltd., [Signature] Joint Managing Director. | ||
