X1775 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from CJ. I had heard in the middle of last week from BY that you had arrived back at Derby. I enclose copy of my memo to you CJ1/D30/4/23. I suppose you had forgotten its contents. I do not see that it is possible for me to administer the affairs of this Company unless I am kept informed of the whereabouts of its principal officials. I know of no organisation, naval, military, civil or commercial in which the heads of departments do not notify daily, even if it be only by Post Card, their movements to date and their prospective movements in the future, to an extent which would enable the chief of the administration to communicate with them at any time, and I must ask that this arrangement should be respected and carried out in the future.
