Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} RECEIVED OCT 5 1926 X5420 Mr. SEC. Mr. WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Mr. MAX. c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. BY/TWD.{T. W. D???Aeith} BY absent. BY/Cgh{W Clough}/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 4.10.26. 20 HP. CHASSIS. FRICTION DEVICE ON FRONT AXLE PIVOT. With reference to MX{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}2/T/ 1.10.26. will you please arrange for all future production axles to be built up with the friction device modified as found necessary by the Test Dept, and to which the Experimental Dept. also agree. We have at present 7 friction surfaces when the washers are arranged alternately as shown on G.53042 and the proposal is to reduce these surfaces to 5. This should be done by placing two bronze washers together, also two steel washers, as shown on sketch below. It is considered essential to apply the above modification to all the front axles which have this device fitted, and to deal with those which are at present fitted to chassis both in the Erecting Bay and in Test Dept. we are taking out an order number against A.I.D.
