I.C.I.(FERTILIZER AND SYNTHETIC PRODUCTS) LIMITED. 154, LONDON ROAD, LEICESTER. OUR REF. GHB/ETC. YOUR REF. 7th August 1935. Messrs Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Sirs, Impregnation of Paper with Seekay Wax. With further reference to our letter dated July 18th, we have now received from our Technical Service Department, Liverpool, a sample of wire, which has been tested as follows:- The wire was kept for 34 days in contact with molten Seekay Wax R.123 at a temperature of 130/135°C. Periodic visual examination of the specimen during this time showed it to undergo little change except for a slight darkening of the lacquer. On the final examination after 34 days the surface of the wire appeared intact with no sign of cracking or peeling of the enamel. From this test, which you will see was carried out under stringent conditions, we are of the opinion that Seekay Wax can be used on this type of wire with perfect safety. We are enclosing a specimen of the wire used in these experiments, and if you would like any further information, we would inform you that we hope to have one of our technical representatives (either Dr McLintock, who called upon you previously, or Mr C.W.Richards) in the district in the near future, and we should be very pleased to arrange a further discussion with you on this matter. Yours faithfully FOR IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES LIMITED (Chemical Section) ENCLOSURE | ||
