PHANTOM II.

HARDY FABRIC COUPLING BETWEEN ENGINE & GEARBOX.

The failure of these couplings are again becoming prevalent with the increased HP. and higher speeds. It has been brought to our notice by our Cricklewood Depot that Four of our latest Phantoms, fitted with the latest Hardy Frabric Couplings, have failedafter 14,000, 11000, 22000, and 21,000 miles respectively. The owners of these cars are fast drivers.

To replace these couplings is an expensive item, which the owners object to paying. The high cost is due to the gearbox having to be dismantled to obtain access to the coupling. We suggest that during the alterations to the gearbox for the silent second gear, modifications be made so that the Fabric Coupling could be made a larger dia., and could be dismantled without having to dismantle the gearbox.
