To DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to C.J. WO. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} DY.{F R Danby} ORIGINAL E3/G22/9/21. 2 X4232 RE "GOSHAWK II" GUNMETAL OIL PUMP CASING. We send you herewith drawing No.Lec.1453 shewing the alteration necessary to the oil pump to use gun metal instead of aluminium for the casing. It will be noticed that the union nozzles have been formed solid with the casing. Referring to Mr. Hives' suggestion that the oil relief valve should be adjustable, and that a high pressure should be used for lubricating the timing gear, the relief oil being returned to the suction side of the pump, this point will be dealt with as soon as Mr. Royce returns.
