(4) 17th May 1911 If they will go on making chassis like this I think we shall gain in the end. I think a fair cry against them would be "Silence at any price". Referring to the Panhard Knight, the 25-horse seems to be the one which is running about England. If this works any better than the English one, it must be due to the points I have raised above, or the exceedingly good workmanship put into it. For instance, the torque rod is very short, which is a bad feature; considerable amount of room is wasted between the engine and the gear box; the back axle bevel drive is a casting of which we have received a sample from the Cothias Co. and is not a good pattern for strength, and appears to us to have many defects. | ||
