contd:- -2- earth can occur on one side without upsetting the system. The single pole system is undoubtedly preferable on the score of simplicity and if correctly carried out, should be always quite as satisfactory. There is much to be said for the intermediate semi-earthed system, in which the battery earth connection is made through a fuse as above, combining as it does some of the advantage of both of the two extremes.
