(9) Steering Column Controls. N.Sch.3542.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} has had to alter the connection between the controls and control tubes to a different order. This enables the engine controls to be satisfactory.

(10). Shock Absorber Controls.

We believe these are to be of governor type. If positive controls are decided, RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} should arrange these similar to third Peregrine.

These are also five other items on By/SS.{S. Smith}28/N.15.11.32 which we do not consider to be sufficiently important to cause possible delay in the programme of the first J.2. car for France.

These are:-

(1) Exhaust System. The present 20/25 HP. resonance silencer is sufficiently good for commencement. As no system has been actually arrived at for this car, it will be best to leave this item until it has been decided as to what is required.

(2) H.T.Wiring Tube. LeC.3004.

We advise that a temporary tube and brackets be used for this car.

(3) Hand Brake.

Delete pilot shoe R.R.Sch.270. Hardly necessary for tests in France.

(4) Rear Axle to Spring Suspension Bracket. R.R.Sch.268.

This modification is in order to get a bore spanner on the spring clip nuts. As these brackets are pinned and brazed to the axle tubes it would be necessary to do a considerable amount of work. We should advise that this modification be left for the next chassis to be built.

(5) Radiator Shutters. These should be of moulded tube section.

We also require a J.2 Bumper chassis having a side spare wheel carrier.
