To ae. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to Cd. c. to Or. c. to Ay. c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ✓ ORIGINAL. E1/1011.2.22. GOSHAWK 11. X4226 X4221 DOUBLE VALVE SPRINGS & MODIFIED VALVE GEAR COVER NUT. We send you herewith drawing No. LeC 1533 shewing an extra valve spring inserted so as to get the speed of the engine up to about 3,500 revs. for the purpose of testing in connection with the high speed vibration. It is not necessarily intended that this double valve spring shall be standardised. You will notice that we have cancelled the gland on the valve guide. We also shew on this drawing a redesigned form of valve gear cover nut, as requested by Mr. Hives, on the lines of the one used for the tappet cover. The new pattern is permanently fixed to the cover, and has the advantage of enabling us to cut about ¼" off the fixing studs.
