X9946 PN{Mr Northey}5/DN/20.12.23. TO Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM P.N. C.J. writes me that he understands from Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} that it will be possible for a chassis to be ready with the new engine in it in January, but not with the new 4-speed gear-box and sundry other alterations which are contemplated. He wishes me to inform you of this with a view to the necessary steps being taken for a chassis to be available to start its 10,000 miles trial at the end of January, a part of such trial including a run to the South of France where we have reason to wish to demonstrate the performance of the chassis to a special friend of ours residing at Cannes.
