E.4/HP. 7th October 1933. Messrs. The S.U. Company., East Works, Bordesley Green Road, Adderley Park, BIRMINGHAM.8. Dear Sirs, Referring to the visit of your Mr Kent on the 6th inst. we wish to confirm the results of the discussion regarding the various points as follows: (1) With regard to the air bottle on the pressure side of the pump, Messrs. S.U. are definitely of the opinion that this would be an advantage, and we will therefore continue experiments with the use of an air bottle although up to the moment we have not found it to be beneficial. (2) With regard to the lead from the coil which is passed underneath the bolt head on the back of the terminal post, we are prepared to accept for the present that the modification from a solid to a flexible conductor will make a much more reliable job, but we put it on record that we are still not satisfied with passing the conductor through the stem of the bolt in this way and crushing it between the bakelite and the sharp edge of the bolt head. We realise the difficulty that there is a very small area underneath the bolt head and not much room available, and hence a Ross Courtney cannot be got in. We therefore leave it that this particular connection may be improved later on. (3) It is agreed that a Ross Courtney form of terminal will be used on the lead to the contact breaker blade. (4) It is agreed that a metal insert will be moulded in to take the screw fixing the contact breaker blade | ||
