Description of Parts.
CLEARANCE BETWEEN INLET VALVES AND GUIDES.

Origin.
Overoiling due to oil being sucked down the clearance in guides.

Report of Experimental Test.
[Text crossed out: By fitting inlet valves with a diametrical clearance of .0015 to .002 in 3AZ170 in place of standard clearance at .002 to .003, consumption raised from 350-750 m.p.g.]
Valves with reduced clearance have been run successfully on Test bed units and 35-EX (15,000 miles) without any sticking.
Present limits. Guide. .3437+1/4 (E.86363). Valve .3417-1/2
Reduced limits..3422-1/4 (E.86783).
